Finding a hotel with a gym was easy in larger cities but much more difficult when staying in smaller towns in France and other countries. Some hotels also had strange opening times for their gym, and sometimes, even in larger cities such as Paris, having a meeting at 9am just outside Paris, sometimes meant you had to leave early so as not to get caught in too much traffic. Plus afternoon meetings were regularly followed by dinner with prospects or customers.
I went from a fitness regime of regular workouts three times a week right down to one and sometimes none at all. Are you trying to maintain a fitness regime when travelling? Does that scenario sound familiar?
Once I became a personal trainer one of the things I did was come up with exercise routines that need no, or minimal equipment. You can get fit using your own body weight, a wall, a tree (in a park), a chair, sofa, kitchen counter etc. You can have a full body workout and it allows you to fit in a good workout, without the need to go to the gym.
In all instances you need to have a warmup of 5-10 minutes to get your body ready for the strength training session, and your session needs to be followed by stretches. Both again, don’t require any equipment.
Be it lower body, upper body, or core training, you can develop your own fitness regime and do it all with no or minimal equipment.
I’ve developed a video showing a full lower body workout using only a tree or a wall for balance.
Watch out for the upper body/core workout coming up soon.
