Low Fat, Lite, Light, Enriched Stuff is Full of Crap
I grew up in a house where we used to eat margarine because it was healthier.
Milk, was skimmed milk.
And when I was self sufficient and started buying my own food, I definitely went for the low fat, light, or lite options.
After all, they must be healthier, less calories, and better for the cholesterol and your heart.
At least, that’s somehow what the government has made us believe, as well as the food manufacturers.
Now if the products were just really low fat, they potentially could be healthier.
However, we most probably would never buy them, as they wouldn’t be the same colour, the same texture, nor approximately the same taste as the original version.
To achieve that, manufacturers have to add plenty of chemicals and sugar or sweetener to make it look and taste similar.
And all the enriched stuff, well, if you know what you need every day of it, you’ll see that it’s only good marketing, as it’s nowhere enough for what one needs to be healthy!
So I always now buy the original version. If something isn’t that healthy, and I want some, I just have the real stuff, and eat less of it.
I’m a big believer that our body is able to cope with natural things, even if they are high in calories, or fat, etc.
It’s when our body is trying to cope with all the chemicals and additives that are added to products, that it starts to struggle and diseases are created.
